The Institute for Social and Development Studies (Institut für Gesellschaftspolitik) is an apostolic work of the Society of Jesus dedicated to the mission for justice understood as integral to the service of faith.The Institute has been affiliated since 1971 as an independent body with the Munich School of Philosophy (Hochschule für Philosophie München).

September 2010 the German version of the final report of our project “Climate Change and Justice” was published. The study, prepared together with the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), marries the ethical commitment to a more equitable world with the vital necessity of combating climate change. The book analyses the reciprocal linkages between climate change and poverty and puts forward a macro-strategy whereby climate change mitigation and poverty reduction can be coupled together effectively, efficiently and equitably.
