Vision Statement
What we aim at
The Institute for Social and Development Studies takes as its purpose advocacy for justice, peace and the integrity of Gods creation. It founds it projects on a philosophical and theological anthropology and a preferential option for the poor. Furthermore, it hopes to contribute concretely to the realisation of human rights, to world wide solidarity, and to humane development policies. In accordance to these aims, the Institute for Social and Development Studies strives for a way of proceeding that
- critically examines and scientifically analyses social problems and concepts in social policy in an interdisciplinary manner (including ethical and theological reflection)
- focuses on the reform of social and cultural structure
- develops a global way of thinking (East-West and North-South relations)
- raises public awareness and stimulates political engagement and response
- works to influence thought and action within the Church
