Location

Between the sections of the city commonly referred to as the »Vergnügungsviertel« (Enjoyment or Pleasure Quarters) – Schwabing and the pedestrian zone in the city center – is where you find our School of Philosophy, also known as the »Maxvorstadt«. This section is traditionally known as the Academic and Artist Quarter. Here lived the painter of the »Blue Rider«, Wassily Kandinsky, as well as many others. Up to the present day, this section is still the cultural heart of Munich. The two largest universities, many colleges and academies, the Bavarian State Library, all call this Quarter home. The city gallery at Lenbachhouse, the Academy of Art, the Collection at Königsplatz, the New and Old Pinakothek (museums housing extensive collections from ancient to modern times) as well as the »Pinakothek der Moderne« (Museum of Modern Art), are all only minutes away from our campus.
